Connect with Your Kundalini: Listen to Your Speaking Hands

April 4, 2024 By Peter

Shows the chakra points on the hands.

Your Kundalini has risen when your hands begin to speak

Inside every human being there is a network of nerves and sensory organs that interprets the outside physical world.

At the same time, within us resides a subtle system of channels (nadis) and centres of energy (chakras) which look after our physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being.

Notice, in the diagram below, that the numbers corresponding to the chakras are also represented on the hands.

My daily go to routine for back pain relief

May 26, 2021 By Peter

I've used this routine for many years. If ever there's a hint of pain I go straight to it and it always relieves the tension.

Depending on the severity, I usually get back to pain free very quickly.

It's been fine tuned over the years based on feedback from my friends and students.

Learn about the powerful effects of Pawanmukatasana.

April 25, 2021 By Peter

What are Pawanmuktasana?

Not many people know about Pawanmuktasana because they’re rarely taught in modern yoga studios.

This is a shame because they’re great for purifying the body and helping to establish the type of internally focused attention necessary for circulating prana.

Pawanmuktasana is a fantastically simple series of movements that lubricate the joints, tone the muscles, limber up the spine, and generally get the circulation moving.

How to clear your mind & awaken your spine in 3 mins!

March 25, 2021 By Peter

Do this every morning to clear your mind and awaken your spine!

Many people aren't aware of this fact:

A large portion of society carries up to one-third of their lung capacity in stale breath. This is due to a combination of a sedentary lifestyle, poor posture, and insipid breathing habits.

Us yogis believe that carrying stale breath in the lungs is like carrying around the past. Stale breath trapped in the lungs contributes to low energy levels and feelings of depression and anxiety.

There is an ever growing mountain of evidence based research aligning with what we yogis have known for millennia.

Doctors and psychologists world wide are advocating more exercise and advise the use of breathing practices and meditation.

They're advising this because of the known benefits:

  • increased energy levels
  • a more positive mind set
  • elevated levels of happiness and feelings of joy

Traditional Surya Namaska

February 25, 2021 By Peter

Surya Namaska | 5 Rounds

Surya Namaska, aka Salute to the Sun, has long been regarded in India for its many benefits.

It can be practiced in numerous ways depending on the desired outcome:

  • physical, ie, flexibility, muscle tone, weight loss.
  • mental, ie. clarity, focus.
  • emotional, ie, as a mood enhancer.
  • spiritual, ie, as a form of bhakti (devotion) and a precursor to meditation.

In the beginning it's best to follow along with the movements of Surya Namaska without even trying to link them to the breath. It's easier to master this way.

Later on you can learn how to incorporate the movements of the breath with the movements of the body.
