In the above video, I discuss ratios in relation to rhythmic breathing and encourage you to practice along with me.
Rhythmic breathing is an extension of Complete Breathing that greatly enhances its benefits - as you'll soon experience for yourself.
We'll be using a 1:1 ratio.
I suggest starting with a count of 4 for the inhalation and exhalation phase.
You'll most likely feel the need to increase this amount as you progress through the session.
It's normal to start out with a small count, in the beginning of a session, and gradually work up to longer counts as you adjust to conscious breathing.
If you feel a count of 4 is too small when you commence, simply increase the count to whatever suits you at the time of practice - use your own discretion - but don't jump up too high too fast.
Also, I suggest sticking to a count of 2 for the retention phase until you feel comfortable with the exercise.
However, you also need to be your own master, so play around and find your own comfortable holding count.
Be patient though, it won't be long before you can easily manage much longer breath retention between the active breath phases.
Enjoy!
